Welcome to Shuffle & Hearth. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of our website, reservation platforms, venue facilities, and participation in our social poker tournaments and dining experiences.

By browsing this website, making a reservation, or entering our venue located in Sydney, Australia, you agree to be bound by these Terms, along with our Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy, and House Poker Rules. If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, please refrain from using our services.

2. Eligibility & Age Restrictions

Shuffle & Hearth is a strictly 18+ venue in accordance with New South Wales hospitality regulations and Australian social club standards.

Age Verification Requirements

  • Photo Identification: All guests must present valid, government-issued photo identification (Australian Driver Licence, Passport, or NSW Photo Card) upon entry.
  • Minors: Persons under 18 years of age are not permitted on the card room floor, dining lounge, or VIP suites under any circumstances.
  • Right of Refusal: Venue management reserves the right to refuse entry or service to any individual unable or unwilling to verify their legal age.

3. Social Non-Gambling Gaming Policy

Shuffle & Hearth operates strictly as a social entertainment card room and licensed restaurant. We are not a casino or real-money gaming venue.

  1. No Real-Money Wagering: All poker tournaments, sit-and-go events, and casual tables utilize non-negotiable tournament chips with no cash equivalent.
  2. No Cash Buy-Ins or Payouts: Games are conducted strictly for tournament leaderboard points, trophies, certificates, and dining package awards.
  3. Player Staking & Side Bets Prohibited: Private financial wagering, currency exchanges, or peer-to-peer side bets between players on the premises are strictly forbidden and will result in immediate lifetime banning.
  4. Regulatory Compliance: Our operations comply with all relevant state and federal entertainment laws in Australia.

4. Table Reservations & Cancellation Policy

We accept advance bookings for poker tables, dining seatings, and private VIP suites via our website, phone, or email.

  • Reservation Holding: Standard table reservations are held for 15 minutes past the scheduled booking time before being released to walk-in patrons.
  • VIP Suites & Large Groups: Bookings of 8 or more guests or private high-roller suite rentals may require a deposit or minimum spend commitment confirmed at the time of booking.
  • Cancellations: We appreciate at least 24 hours' notice for cancellations or modifications of standard bookings, and 48 hours for private VIP suite hires.

5. Code of Conduct & Card Room Ethics

To preserve an upscale, welcoming, and safe atmosphere for all patrons and staff, all guests agree to adhere to our standards of conduct:

  • Respectful Atmosphere: Zero tolerance for verbal harassment, vulgarity, intimidation, physical aggression, or discrimination of any kind.
  • Dealer Authority: Professional dealers and tournament directors manage all table action. Decisions rendered by the Tournament Floor Manager are final.
  • Dress Standard: Smart casual attire is required. Management reserves the right to deny entry to guests wearing inappropriate clothing.
  • Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA): Our venue strictly enforces NSW RSA laws. Intoxicated patrons will be refused service and required to vacate the premises.

6. Dining & Hospitality Terms

Our restaurant and bar operate under standard Australian hospitality standards and food safety regulations.

  • Dietary Information: While we endeavour to accommodate dietary requirements and allergies, food is prepared in a kitchen handling gluten, nuts, and shellfish. Please notify staff of any severe allergies before ordering.
  • Table-Side Service: Card-side food and drink service is provided as a courtesy to seated players and must not disrupt active tournament play.
  • Pricing: All food and beverage prices are listed in Australian Dollars (AUD) and are inclusive of GST.

7. Intellectual Property & Website Use

All content on this website—including logos, photography, text, graphics, and tournament format material—is the exclusive property of Shuffle & Hearth and is protected by Australian and international copyright and trademark laws.

You may not reproduce, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from any part of our website or brand assets without prior written authorization from Shuffle & Hearth management.

8. Limitation of Liability & Disclaimers

To the maximum extent permitted by the Australian Consumer Law (Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth)):

  • Our website and venue services are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without express or implied warranties.
  • Shuffle & Hearth is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages resulting from website downtime or event schedule adjustments.
  • Guests are responsible for their personal belongings while on venue premises. We accept no liability for lost, stolen, or damaged personal property.
  • Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any consumer guarantee or statutory right that cannot be excluded under Australian law.

9. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of New South Wales, Australia. Any dispute arising in connection with these Terms or your use of our services shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New South Wales.
